As always, the interaction between the boys is one of the highlights. The Goal can be read as a standalone however, I loved the way this story intersects with events from the other books in the series. The book lags at times, and while I don’t think it’s as laugh-out-loud hilarious as the previous books, that’s okay. Their chemistry is intense, though, and I really enjoyed them as a couple. She pushes Tucker away so many times it’s amazing he keeps coming back. Her stubbornness seems foolish and sometimes dangerous. What frustrated me was her unwillingness to accept any help. I admired Sabrina’s tenacity despite her being prickly towards Tucker. Good googly goo, Gus! I’ve never seen a man with so much patience and understanding. I adored everything about Tucker! He’s funny, trustworthy, supportive, calm, and it doesn’t hurt that he’s phenomenal (and dirty) in bed. On the ice, he’s fine staying out of the spotlight, but when it comes to becoming a daddy at the age of twenty-two, he refuses to be a bench warmer. Tucker believes being a team player is as important as being the star.
